Hold a World Cup Soccer Competition between the foreign language classes. Let the winning teacher keep the trophy in his/her room for the year.
In our world cup competition, the game was 30 minutes long. We had two halves of 15 minutes. If the game was tied we had penalty kick until there was a winner. We had enough kids sign up to have 16 teams. We used a bracket to get down to two teams. Since students were in different classes we had them make a paper flag to represent their country and safety pin it to their shirts so they could recognize their team mates. Flag patterns can be found on enchantedlearning.com.
During the competition is also a great time to teach your student about the role of soccer and other sports in the countries of your target language.
